America’s Frontier Fund (AFF) is pleased to submit the following response for the consideration of the Department of Commerce. The Department requested information “in order to inform the planning and design of potential programs to: Incentivize investment in semiconductor manufacturing facilities and associated ecosystems; provide for shared infrastructure to accelerate semiconductor research, development, and prototyping; and support research related to advanced packaging and advanced metrology to ensure a robust domestic semiconductor industry.”

Within this response, AFF provides our insights and recommendations from our perspective as an independent non-profit investment fund composed of technologists, venture capitalists, and national security professionals with experience building technology companies and strategic investment funds for the public benefit. We focus our recommendations on areas for which we have specific expertise that might be of benefit to the Department.
