He previously served in corporate, consulting, and government organizations and at an international law firm. From 2017 to 2023, Mike was the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer of LookingGlass Cyber Solutions, where he provided counsel and strategic advice on the execution of SaaS, data platform, managed services, and hardware lines of business. From 2014 to 2017, Mike served on the senior leadership team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cyber Division, where he helped to lead national cyber strategy and the FBI’s responses to cyber-enabled thefts of funds, payment card, healthcare, client, and personal information; dark markets; destructive attacks on corporate systems; denial of service attacks; ransomware; and extortion. From 1995 to 2014, Mike served in the U.S. Department of Justice in its Civil, Criminal, and National Divisions. From 2013 to 2014, he was DOJ’s Acting Director of Cyber Counterterrorism and Financial Enforcement. From 2008 to 2013, he was Deputy Chief of the Counterterrorism Section. Beginning in 2002, Mike served as an original member of the “fly away” team tasked to prosecute terrorist financing cases and he ultimately came to lead the national terrorist financing prosecution program. Mike began his legal career at the international law firm of Paul Hastings. Prior to law school, Mike worked as a software developer for the company now known as Accenture.Mike holds J.D. and B.A. degrees from Duke University, with an undergraduate focus on economics, public policy, and philosophy. Mike is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business, on track to graduate in 2024.
